Tributes Flow for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt able to express about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has passed that I can now express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, remarking that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A legal directive put a embargo on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of foul play, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the tragedy, public individuals expressed varying reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative claims that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
