The January transfer window is always a time of significant speculation and potential major moves. Several prominent footballers find themselves linked with transfers out of their present teams. This article explores a selection of the major figures that could be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Former suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have moved on to alternative options, leaving teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute move.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has continued to excel for Crystal Palace this season a previous move to Liverpool falling through. As his deal set to expire in the summer, this represents the London club's final opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous elite sides, such as Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a winter departure remains unlikely, particularly given the coach's dependence on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

This Wales winger has had starting opportunities limited at Spurs this campaign. Although finishing as the side's leading goalscorer last season, Johnson has begun only a handful of league matches. Reports suggest the London club is open to a sale for the right price, thought to be in the region of £40 million. The Cherries appear to be at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

Tottenham rate the Welsh international at around forty million pounds.

R. Neves

This Portugal midfielder might be set for a return to the English top flight after a period in Saudi Arabia. Still only twenty-eight, and with his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential bargain. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the player. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spanish media that he is prepared to take a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça under the coach Hansi Flick. After lost his place and undergone an operation, a January departure seems highly likely. Villa were once mentioned as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

The prolific England striker has continued finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of making the national squad. But, arranging a deal poses major hurdles. Al-Ahli are reluctant to sell him, and his reported enormous weekly wages render any agreement difficult. The exciting Turkish forward is in fine form for Juventus this season. With his current deal nearing its end, many English sides – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the situation. Juventus are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but are in a race to keep one of the continent's most promising prospects.

Kees Smit

This much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. This 19-year-old is widely tipped to make a major transfer in January. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but are facing strong rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
