England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test match for the Kiwis was against the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is still working through the extent of his role will be at the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former New Zealand pace bowler is only likely to be available for the opening match because of his involvement in the ILT20 competition, which begins on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English squad for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, Southee stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We'll see what happens over the next little while."
English pace icon Broad had declared the Australian side as their "weakest squad since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which starts on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a bad Aussie side," he remarked.
"Our focus is firmly on what we're trying to do. I think the caliber of [England's] side that's going out to the host country is brilliant.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to the English team travel to Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
