Edwards as well as O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Managerial Candidates

Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton manager - who played over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club board as they start the process of hiring a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was released by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
