A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future away from worry.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a local firefighter, was christened after the current slang trend of young people yelling “six-seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently named “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to open the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and cafecito as they marked the pig's pardon.
